NATURAL RESOURCES – VOCABULARY

Atmosphere (n): không khí, khí quyển – To reduce the effect the greenhouse gases have on our atmosphere we should plant more trees.

Biofuel (n): nhiên liệu sinh học – Others believe that biofuels are the future.

Carbon (n): cacbon – The best evidence indicates that we need to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 70% by 2050.

Crisis (n): khủng hoảng – The business is still in crisis but it has survived the worst of the recession.

Alternative (adj): thay thế – Not only fossil fuels pose an environmental hazard but there is also a pressing need to find an alternative energy source that is renewable.

Disposable (adj): dùng 1 lần – Disposable gloves are widely used in medical examinations.

Eco-friendly (adj): thân thiện với môi trường – Many car companies are exploring eco-friendly energy sources.

Environmentally friendly (adj): thân thiện với môi trường – Which is the most environmentally friendly way to clean your clothes?

Absorb (v): hấp thụ – Trees can absord carbon dioxide and so they help to counter the fumes produced by our cars.

Conserve (n): bảo tồn, giữ gìn – If we want to conserve energy then we need to change the way we behave.

Consume (v): tiêu thụ – The electricity industry consumes large amounts of fossil fuels.

Deplete (v): dùng hết, cạn kiệt – Food suppliers were severely depleted.

Practice: Making sentences with each of the words above.

Speaking Part: Answer those questions:

1. What are natural resources?
2. What are the important of natural resources?
3. How natural resources affect to the business?
4. Are there any environmental problems in your country?

Describe a polluted place.

You should say:

• What the place is
• What type of pollution it is/are
• Cause and effect of pollution and explain how can this pollution be controlled.
