AGRICULTURE – VOCABULARY

Agriculture (n): nông nghiệp – Since the birth of agriculture, farmers have tried to avoid using pesticides by employing various biological methods to control nature.

Evolution (n): tiến hoá – Darwin’s theoryy of evolution has recently proved wrong.

Genetics (n): ngành di truyền học – It is the largest centre for advanced genetics research in Australasia.

Repercussions (n): tác động, ảnh hưởng – It remains to be seen whether this controversial method willl have any longterm repercussions.

Arid (adj): khô cằn – Nothing grows in these arid regions.

Catrastrophic (adj): thảm khốc – When farmers try to eliminate the cane beetle by introducing the South American can toad, the results were catastrophic.

Domesticated (adj): thuần hoá – These animals are only partly domesticated

Vulnerable (adj): dễ bị tổn thương – Further 250 species are considered to be either endangered or vulnerable.

Combat (v): đánh nhau, chống lại – To help combat the decline, the British have established special clinics for injured hedgehogs.

Cultivate (v): trồng trọt – The land around here has never bên cultivated.

Eradicate (v) diệt trừ, xoá bỏ – The pricky pear was virtually eradicated.

Tolerate (v): tha thứ, chịu đựng – Few plants will tolerate sudden changes in temperature.
